Audit Committee

 

To ensure the business processes, frameworks and operations of Swan TAFE follow good governance, the College established the Swan TAFE Audit Committee as a sub-committee of the Governing Council in 2004 with the purpose to evaluate and contribute to the improvement of risk management, control and governance processes.

The Audit Committee is lead by an independent chairperson, Mr Todd Hutchison, and has both the Swan TAFE Managing Director and Governing Council Chair as permanent members. In addition, there exist two elected members, an Executive Officer, the Director of Finance, and representatives from the Office of the Auditor General and Global 2020 (the external auditors).

The Audit Committee meet at least four times a year to ensure that the Audit Plan is being progressed and monitored, with any risks and actions being adequately identified and managed. The Audit Plan provides details of the pending audit to be undertaken each year over a cyclic three year period.

The minutes of the Audit Committee are tabled at Governing Council and the Chairperson submits an annual report on the year’s activities. The Committee also maintains the right to communicate to all staff on audit activities and notifications.
Swan TAFE prides itself on good governance practice and sees the Audit Committee as a means to help assure that the College is living by its commitment to best practice.

Todd Hutchison (Chair)

Todd Hutchison is a recognised business leader and specialist in strategic and operational planning, project management, business process and human behaviour. Todd has a Masters of Commerce and a Masters of Business and Administration, and is an internationally certified Master Coach, Master Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner, certified Project Management Professional, Master Project Director and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

 

His audit experience has been primarily through consulting firms, such as the current Managing Director of People Rich Pty Ltd, an executive Director at Deloitte Touche Tomhmatsu, and as a Director of Curtin University. Todd’s board experience has included roles as the Chairman of the International Institute of Coaching, National Chairman of the Australian Project Management Institute Council, Chairman of Auquest Pty Ltd, Chairman of the WA Chapter PMI, Director of the Asia PMI Pacific Region 10 Council and Counsellor of Curtin University of Technology.

 

Todd’s professionalism and high performance has realised awards from the Project Management Institute, Curtin University, WA Business News, TAFE, National Speakers Associate of Australia, WA Squadron Air Training Corps.
